Caring for your bra: why is it important?
Your bra is in direct contact with your skin; it undergoes friction, tension from the elastics, perspiration, washing... Without a minimum of precaution, it can quickly lose its shape, support, or softness.
Whether it's a model with or without underwire, in lace or microfiber, proper care of delicate lingerie helps preserve the fit of the cups and straps, maintain the elasticity of the materials, and keep a bra longer, in perfect condition.
Our bestseller Arum comes in several colors, including the skin color.
7 errors to avoid
-
Washing at too high a temperature
Hot water might seem effective against bacteria… but it is the enemy of delicate fibers! Washing at over 40°C can stretch the elastics, deform the cups, and weaken the seams. To wash your bra correctly, favor a gentle temperature (30°C max) or better: hand washing.
-
Using a tumble dryer
The tumble dryer should be avoided for your bras. The heat breaks the elasticity, twists the underwires, and deforms the lingerie. Let them air dry flat; they will thank you for it.
-
Putting them on backwards
By fastening the bra at the front and rotating it, you risk deforming the underwires and stretching the elastics. To preserve it, you should first put on the straps before closing the hooks in the back.
-
Not using a wash bag
If you opt for a machine wash, a wash bag is essential. It protects the bra from friction, prevents the straps from getting tangled, or the hooks from catching on other clothes. Also, remember to close your bra before putting it in the bag.
-
Folding or storing them incorrectly
We've all quickly tucked a bra into a drawer… But folding or turning it inside out can crush the cups and deform the underwires. The ideal? Stack them flat, cups inside cups, or hang them.
-
Drying them in direct sunlight
While it might be tempting to dry them in the sun to speed up the process, there is a risk of damage. Heat can ruin the colors and harm the elasticity of the materials.
-
Not checking the care instructions
Every bra is unique. Lace, microfiber, cotton… Materials react differently. Before washing your lingerie, remember to check the label.
Best practices for maintaining your bra
Here are a few simple gestures to apply that make all the difference:
-
Hand wash as often as possible, especially delicate pieces.
-
Use a gentle detergent, without bleaching agents.
-
Air dry, flat or hanging, but never in the dryer.
-
Store your bras carefully without twisting them or stacking them randomly.
-
Alternate models so as not to always wear the same one.
These good habits will allow you to keep your bras longer and enjoy them to the fullest.
