Underdress Secret
Under a light dress or a voile skirt, a full slip stops the fabric from being see-through and lets it hang freely. Our plus size full slip from the Secret line comes in black and nude, from M to XXL. Its soft knit moves with you without showing through.
Why wear a slip under your outfits?
A light dress that isn't see-through
Linen, fine cotton, printed viscose: against the light, summer fabrics often reveal your silhouette. Worn underneath, a slip for under dresses covers you from bust to hips and makes the outfit opaque without adding bulk. It's a piece of invisible lingerie you forget about once you're dressed, which is exactly what you want from it.
A dress that hangs well and doesn't cling to tights
In winter the problem changes: a knitted or crepe dress catches on your tights and rides up. An underslip then acts as a smooth layer between the two. Its fluid cut follows your body without squeezing, and the dress falls naturally again.
How to choose your slip
Black or nude slip?
The nude slip disappears under light, white or pastel fabrics because it's close to your skin tone. Some brands call this shade skin-tone or beige: ours is called Natural Skin. Under dark dresses and prints, the black slip remains the safest choice. To keep both to hand, the pack of 2 slips brings together black and nude.
Finding your size, from M to XXL
Our full slips for women run from M to XXL. Choose your usual size: the stretch knit adapts to your bust and hips without compressing.
A slip in soft lyocell and modal knit
Rather than a cotton slip, we chose a knit made of 48% lyocell, 48% modal and 4% elastane. These two cellulose-based fibres are valued for their softness and breathability, and the elastane adds just the right amount of stretch. The result is a fine fabric that feels comfortable on your skin as soon as the weather warms up. The round neck stays discreet under a classic neckline, and the thin straps adjust to your bust. To care for it, hand wash with a mild detergent, or use a laundry bag if it goes in the machine.
Full slip, half slip or camisole: which one?
| Piece | What it covers | Worn under |
|---|---|---|
| Full slip | From bust to hips | Flowing or sheer dress |
| Half slip | From waist to mid-thigh | Skirt, dress already lined on top |
| Camisole | The bust | Blouse or light top |
A full slip is a single layer with straps, worn under your dress. If only your skirt lets the light through, a half slip does the job. Under a sheer top, a camisole takes over. To smooth your silhouette under a close-fitting dress, take a look at our shapewear.
Frequently asked questions about full slips
What is a full slip for?
It stops a light dress or skirt from being see-through and keeps the fabric from clinging to your skin or tights. Your dress hangs better and feels more comfortable to wear.
What is the difference between a full slip and a half slip?
A full slip is held up by straps and covers you from bust to hips. A half slip sits at the waist and reaches mid-thigh: it's enough when only the lower part of your outfit is sheer.
Will a slip show under my dress?
Not under a classic neckline: the round neck and thin straps stay hidden. Choose nude under light fabrics and black under dark ones so it stays invisible.
What colour slip should I wear under a light dress?
Nude, which is close to your skin tone, is the most discreet under light or white fabrics. Keep black for darker dresses.
How do I choose my slip size?
Take your usual size. Our full slips run from M to XXL, and the stretch knit adapts without compressing.
Can I wear a full slip under a skirt?
Yes, especially when you wear the skirt with a thin top, as the slip also covers your bust. If only the skirt is sheer, a half slip is the lighter option.
How do I wash a slip?
Hand washing with a mild detergent is recommended. In the machine, put it in a laundry bag.
