The number one rule for feeling secure whilst exercising effectively is to wear the right kit.
First and foremost, this includes a sports bra or bralette to suit your level of intensity and the size of your bust. If you think you can do stretching classes, gym sessions or even running in an ordinary bra – think again!
Your bust is often affected during exercise. Wearing the wrong bra can cause intense pain and lesions to the breasts, as well as the back, neck and shoulders. This is why you need to look after your bust with a sports bra or bralette.
Sports bras and tops are designed to absorb up to 70% of impacts caused by sudden, repetitive movements, giving you complete peace of mind whilst you exercise.
To ensure you feel reassured and confident during all your sporting activities, follow our recommendations for choosing the right plus size sports underwear to suit your own pace.
You need to consider various criteria when choosing your style of sports bra. Here are the most important ones:
Underwiring type
Underwires could hinder your movements and cause injury. If you are worried about your full bust not being sufficiently supported without underwiring, don't forget that the underwires are replaced by wide, strong fabric bands that provide you with unbeatable support.
Fabric
As with any type of underwear, the type of fabric plays an essential role when it comes to comfort. Sports bras and bralettes need soft, stretchy and breathable fabric to wick away perspiration, follow your movements and prevent skin irritations.
Sports underwear needs to fit properly to suit your body shape. Bras and bralettes should fully encase your breasts to reduce to reduce breast movement. For women with large busts, wide straps and extra-flat seams are essential to avoid cutting into the skin.
Each type of activty calls for a specific support depending on the level of sport intensity. If you enjoy various types of exercise, consider investing in several bras. To ensure you choose the right sports bra, read the features for each product carefully or ask for advice.
There are other little details that make all the difference: a racer back and a front zip fastening. The former supports and protects your back, whilst the latter is more practical.
Gentle exercise or types of exercise you can do at home, such as yoga, Pilates or stretching are classed as low impact. This means you can make comfort your key consideration when choosing a bra top or sports bra. A seamless design made from stretch fabric with a soft feel would be perfect.

Activities classed as moderate impact include cycling, dancing and fitness sessions. These require firmer support. The best option would be a bra top or sports bra with foam cups and a racer back to avoid restricting your movements.
